The first session for Batch 13 was on 15th June, 2024.

Our mentor Saurav Rajurkar, an alumnus of National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata taught the mentees the essentials of a CV, the mistakes to avoid and how to draft a cover letter.

Steps to CV Writing

Consolidating Information

Put across your most valuable experiences
It is important to think through experiences and decide which are necessary and which are not
Cater to what the organisation you are applying for looks for
Put in the effort to change your CV based on the firm or organisation you are applying to

Making your CV

On a prima facie level, a good looking document is a trustworthy document
It should be clean, neat and easily readable
Borders and images are not preferred
Make your CV easy to readable on phones
Send your CVs only as PDFs
The CV must not exceed 2 pages

Presenting your CV

Title your CV as “Name-CV”
Subject of the mail: "Application for Internship - Name - Month you are applying for"
Do not begin with inspirational or motivational quotes
Research about the company
Your cover letter should show “What you bring to the table?”
Avoid sending a generic cover letter

An extra tip

Create a master document with everything you have done and learnt from each experience.
Later choose the entries related to the organisation you are applying for.
Save all the supporting documents on GDrive or OneDrive (All your research documents, papers, everything you have worked on in the same Drive)

Common mistakes to avoid

01.

Do not underline. Use "Bold" instead to be more readable.

02.

Do not mention personal/demographic details. Ex. DOB, Father's name, etc.

03.

References can be left out as nobody calls the referred persons. The space could be used for research entries.

04.

Do not write a summary of yourself on CV. Rather put it in a Cover Letter.

05.

Do not add a Declaration at the end of your CV.
