Tools and AI in law
Knowing how to use AI and legal tools can make your life as a student and as a professional a lot easier.
The Graduation Ceremony for Batch 13 had a quick session on legal tools and AI that can be used in legal research and practice.
Here's a quicker read on the tools that you are missing out on!

A good prompt makes ChatGPT 10x more useful
How to draft a good prompt?
1. Information - provide information about us
2. Character - specify the role ChatGPT plays
3. Expectation - mention how you want ChatGPT to respond
For example,
I am a law student studying in India. (Information)
You are a law professor known to explain difficult things easy with good illustrations. (Character)
Can you explain the concept of squeezing out minority shareholders under the Companies Act? (Expectation)
To design a comprehensive prompt:
You can use ChatGPT to design the prompt itself.
Just type in "I want to give a prompt to chatgpt to specifically research on _. Can you design the prompt?"
Then copy its answer and paste it as your next question.
To understand concepts:
Type in "Can you explain __ to me like I am a 12 year old?" and the AI will illustrate complex concepts in a simple manner.
To test yourself:
Give a prompt in the following format: “You are an examiner, I am a law student, give me questions on _”
You can also choose if you want the questions to be objective or subjective or in the form of a case study based on a case law.
Warning:
There's a little inaccuracy in ChatGPT, kindly take its results with a pinch of salt.
Claude AI
Claude AI has a higher word limit than ChatGPT.
It allows you to paste documents and get a summary of the same.
You can use it for getting a summary, asking questions with the answers in the doc, proofreading, etc.
For example, simply upload a document and ask “How can I improve this article if my user base is human rights lawyer/law students and researchers”.
Prowritingaid
It is a better version of Grammarly.
You can upload documents and see how you can improve.
Its main function is to analyse your writing and make suggestions.
Perplexity
The language of Perplexity is more relevant than ChatGPT.
It also provides the links of its sources which helps you read the original documents from which the answers have been generated.
Writing Research Papers
Write a paper yourself. Use AI to scrutinise it.
But how do you write the paper?
